Anna is British and was born in Rome. Journalist, editor, publisher and collector, she is married to publisher Umberto Allemandi, they have two children, Maximilian and Katherine. Anna was educated at Oxford University and Courtauld Institute, University of London.
She founded The Art Newspaper for Umberto Allemandi & Co. and edited it from 1990-92/1994-2002.
Her experience include: curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum; editor in chief, Apollo Magazine; Chairman, the Venice in Peril Fund; Chief Coordinating Editor, Chairman of U. Allemandi Publishing & Co. Ltd, now honorary chairman and a non-executive director.
Trustee of the Gilbert Collection. Trustee of FAI UK Italian Heritage Trust. Anna is Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE); Commendatore della Stella d’Italia; winner of the 1992 National Art Collections Fund (now Art Fund); winner of the 2006 Arts and Media Section of the 16th European Woman of Achievement Awards; winner of the 2011 Advocate Award from the International Institute for Conservation; winner of the Istituto Veneto award for the best piece of journalism on Venice in 2013 (published in the New York Review of Books). She is also member of The Academy and Grillions, London.
